  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the Guinness, cocoa powder, and sugar until combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla.
  6. Stir in melted butter and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool and prepare frosting.
  9. Beat cream cheese and heavy cream together until stiff peaks form.
  10. Spread the frosting on the cooled cake and serve.
