  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the green beans with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Spread the green beans on a baking sheet. Roast for 15 minutes.
  4. While the beans are roasting, combine the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar in a small pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the sliced shallots, cooking until they are caramelized and glossy.
  6. After 15 minutes, remove the beans from the oven and pour the shallots over them, tossing to combine.
  7. Return to the oven for another 5-10 minutes until the beans are tender and slightly charred.

Notes
