Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, vegetable oil, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Add buttermilk and eggs to the mixture, mixing until smooth.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients gradually.
  6. Stir in the red food coloring until evenly distributed.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and lemon juice until creamy.
  8. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan, followed by dollops of the cream cheese mixture, and top with remaining batter.
  9. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the batter.
