Garlic Turmeric Rice

Garlic Turmeric Rice is a delicious and easy-to-make comfort food that combines the earthy flavors of turmeric and the aromatic essence of garlic.

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the turmeric powder and stir for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir well to coat the rice with the garlic and turmeric mixture.
  5. Pour in the vegetable broth and add the salt and black pepper. Bring to a boil.
  6. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
  7. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper while sautéing the garlic.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled vegetables or a protein of your choice.
