A simple method to bake delicious no knead bread in a Dutch oven, creating a crusty exterior and a soft, chewy inside.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 ½ cups water, room temperature

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours.
  4. Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball.
  5. Let it rest for about 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Place a Dutch oven (with the lid) into the oven to heat up for 30 minutes.
  7. Once heated, carefully remove the pot, place the dough inside, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  9. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

  • For added flavor, herbs can be mixed into the dough before the rise.
  • Always check the bread around the baking time to avoid over-baking.
