Classic Patty Melt Recipe

A classic patty melt with a delicious twist featuring turkey bacon.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 4 slices rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized.
  3. Form patties with the ground beef, season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the beef patties in the skillet until desired doneness.
  5. Top each patty with caramelized onions, turkey bacon, and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  6. Butter the outside of the rye bread and assemble the sandwich.
  7. Grill in the skillet until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add jalapenos to the sandwich.
  • Use a thicker bread for a heartier sandwich.
