This classic Italian tiramisu recipe offers a delicious and creamy dessert experience.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong espresso, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan until hot, then gradually whisk it into the egg mixture.
  3. Cook the mixture over low heat until it thickens, then remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold in the mascarpone cheese.
  5. Combine the cooled egg mixture with the whipped cream mixture.
  6. In a shallow dish, mix the espresso and coffee liqueur.
  7. Dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients, finishing with the mascarpone mixture on top.
  10. Sift cocoa powder over the top and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, make tiramisu a day ahead and chill overnight.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cocoa powder to your taste.
